Precautions for Installing a Gas Boiler

After purchasing a gas boiler, users also face challenges related to transportation and installation. Ensuring the boiler is installed correctly and operates smoothly is a key concern for many customers. Drawing on years of experience in boiler installation, Zhongjie Specialized Installation has compiled the following guidelines, aiming to help more users understand the proper procedures for installing a gas boiler.
1. Gas-fired boilers shall not be installed in bedrooms or rooms directly connected to bedrooms, nor in basements with inadequate ventilation.
2. To ensure safety and stability, users must engage a professional installation company that holds the necessary qualifications for installing gas-fired boilers.
3. The 220V power supply for the gas boiler must be connected to a reliable grounding conductor to ensure safe operation.
4. The connection between the gas pipeline and the gas burner must use a gas-specific pipeline.
5. After the gas piping has been installed, open the gas valve and use soapy water to check the joints for leaks. If a leak is detected, close the valve, repair or replace the sealing components, and then inspect the gas boiler until no leaks remain.
6. Boiler installation must be level and properly planned, with piping kept as short, minimal in number, and of larger diameter as possible—i.e., minimize pipe length, reduce bends, and use larger‑diameter pipes. In addition, the main return line should have the same diameter as the gas boiler’s outlet and return ports.
7. The slope of the main supply and return pipelines for natural circulation water shall be 3–5%. Air vents shall be installed at the highest point of the system, and no valves are permitted.
8. The drain valve shall be installed at the lowest point of the system, and the bottom of the make-up water tank shall be higher than the supply pipe. The automatic air vent shall not be replaced with a vent opening, and the valve shall not be installed or blocked.
9. During installation, the flue must extend outdoors and be inclined downward at a 5° angle to prevent condensate from flowing back and causing corrosion of the furnace body. Flammable materials must not be placed in the vicinity of the flue.
